# Mapflyover > Make cinematic map flyover videos from a script: real place boundaries, narration, word-by-word captions and MP4 export for YouTube, Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Build it by hand or let your own AI agent do it. Mapflyover is built and operated by its founder, Ali Hassan, in Darwin, Australia. ## What Mapflyover does Mapflyover turns a written script into a cinematic 3D map flyover video. It finds the real outline of every place in the script, flies a tilted camera over real map and satellite imagery, adds narration and word-by-word captions, and exports a finished MP4 in the browser, vertical 9:16 or landscape 16:9. You can build the video by hand in the editor, describe it to the built-in Create with AI, or connect your own AI agent. ## Features - Real place boundaries: countries, regions, cities and landmarks come from OpenStreetMap, ranked so the right match is chosen first, with far-flung islands and overseas territories kept out of the frame. - Fix an outline in one tap: switch to another candidate, draw a circle of a given radius, or import your own GeoJSON shape for any scene. - Satellite imagery: previews use free Esri imagery; exported satellite videos are drawn with Mapbox imagery on a free public token you add once. The other nine map looks export without a token. - 3D flyover camera: look straight down or tilt the camera up to 85 degrees, so it flies over the map in three dimensions. Pitch, bearing, roll, field of view, motion speed and flight time per scene, with an automatic cruise zoom-out between places. - Your own camera path: keyframes for position, zoom, pitch and bearing with a speed curve, or ready-made holds (push-in, pull-out, drift, sweep, orbit). - Word-highlighted captions: the spoken word lights up as it is said. Seven presets, eight fonts, outline, shadow, background plate, position and animation. - Stat cards, focus cards and a location chip: timed stat cards for numbers and facts, focus cards as a second distinct card type, and a location chip with the country flag, with separate sizes for vertical and landscape. - Sticker pop-ups: country flags, landmarks, animals, weather and icons over the map, several at once, with tilt, outline, shadow and entrance animations. - Vertical and landscape: one project exports as 9:16 vertical or 16:9 landscape MP4. Those are the only two aspect ratios; there is no square (1:1) export. - Moving icons and pictures: pin a boat, plane, marker or your own artwork to a place and send it along a path; it stays on the map as the camera moves. - Animated titles: words that arrive letter by letter, glitch in, type out or count up like a year ticker, with accent colours on chosen words. - Routes, arrows and borders: lines that draw themselves on, lying on the map in perspective or flat on screen, and can trace the border two places share. - Place fills: fill a place with a solid colour, gradient, pattern, picture, video, text or stat, and keep the fill on after the camera leaves, with reveal animations. - Multi-place highlights: highlight up to 12 extra places in one scene, for comparisons and neighbours. - Your assets and data: upload pictures, SVGs, GIFs and short videos to your own library, or import a data table (CSV) to colour countries on a data map or draw a racing bar chart. - Ten map looks: satellite, streets, topographic, shaded relief, dark, light, ocean, a National Geographic style atlas look, historic (an aged-paper look; the boundaries drawn are current, not historical) and blueprint. - Terrain relief for the 3D look: an optional terrain-relief and haze setting that makes hills and mountains rise out of the map when the camera tilts. The 3D depth comes from the camera angle and the terrain relief; there are no modelled 3D buildings. - Script-to-video studio: paste or write a script (up to 20,000 characters) and it is kept exactly as written, for narration and caption text. - Natural narration voices: pick a natural voice in English or another language and generate the audio, or upload your own recording. Narration is free and needs no key. - Timed to the word: the voice reports each word time, so captions need no key and every caption time can be edited by hand and exported as SRT. For a recording you made yourself, Groq Whisper listens with your own key. - Your soundtrack: up to 8 music and sound-effect tracks from your own audio library, with start times, fades, looping, volume and ducking under the narration. There is no built-in stock music library; tracks are ones you upload. - Create with AI, built in: describe a video in a sentence and the studio's built-in AI builds it for you, 3 videos per account. - Your own AI agent: connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client to the Mapflyover MCP server to create projects, write scripts, generate narration, time captions, resolve places and save scenes. Everything an agent can do can also be done by hand in the editor. - Six video templates: history explainer, top list, comparison, journey/route, travel guide and country profile. - Portuguese in the logged-in app: the main screens of the logged-in app (dashboard, editor, settings and billing) are available in English and Portuguese (Brazil). The public site is in English. - Browser rendering: FFmpeg runs in your browser, each frame waits for its map tiles, and you can keep editing while an export runs. Finished videos are saved to your account library. - Buffer scheduling (Pro and Studio only): add an exported video to your Buffer queue or pick an exact time, for several channels at once. Free accounts cannot share to Buffer. ## Plans and pricing - Free ($0): the full editor, unlimited previews and 3 projects. Narration and captions are free.
