Mapflyover vs Mult.dev

Mult.dev is a focused trip-route animator — drop in your stops and it draws the journey. Mapflyover is a map video studio — you bring a script and it builds a narrated flyover video, route journeys included. If your video is the route, both work; if the route is one part of a story you are telling, Mapflyover is built for that.

How each one works

Mult.dev starts with the route. You add locations (up to 10 stops on the free plan, 100 with Pro), pick a transport mode — plane, car, train, boat, walking and more — attach photos to stops, choose a style, colours and music, then export. You can import a route from GPX, KML or GeoJSON files, or from Google Maps, and there is a text prompt that drafts a route from a written description of your journey. It runs on the web and in iOS and Android apps, and it is deliberately zero-config: very little to learn.

Mapflyover starts with the story. You paste a script (or describe the video and let AI draft it), and the studio turns it into scenes — one per place — with the real boundary of each place found and framed automatically, a 3D camera that rises, flies and lands between them, narration generated in the app, and captions timed to every spoken word. A route video is a normal case: list your stops as scenes and the camera flies the journey. When the video is built, you export an MP4 — 16:9 for YouTube or 9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok — rendered in your browser. You can also connect your own AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client) and have it build the whole project for you.

Pricing comparison

Mult.dev gives you 5 free videos (768p, 30 fps, Mult.dev logo, up to 10 stops). After that it sells one-time Pro packs of 5, 25 or 100 videos — no subscription, and each pack stays valid for 3 years. Pro raises the limits to 100 stops, 1920p at 60 fps, an optional logo, and unlocks all transport types, imports, custom colours, land and sea routes and music. Pack prices are set in the app and are not published on its pricing page.

Mapflyover is free to build in: the full editor, unlimited previews, narration and captions cost nothing, and the Free plan (not a trial — it never expires) exports 2 MP4s a month at 720p, up to 90 seconds, with a Mapflyover mark. Pro is $20/month for 30 exports up to 1080p and 5 minutes with no mark; a 7-day Pro trial costs $3. Studio is $70/month for 300 exports up to 4K and 15 minutes. Failed exports do not count against your allowance.

The models suit different habits. A pack is cheaper if you make a handful of trip videos a year and then stop. A monthly allowance is cheaper if you publish every week — and Mapflyover's free tier renews every month, while Mult.dev's 5 free videos are a one-time allowance.

Choose Mult.dev if…

  • ›You mainly animate trips you have taken — especially if you have a GPX track or a Google Maps route to import.
  • ›You want photos pinned along the route and a moving car, train or plane icon doing the storytelling.
  • ›You prefer a one-time purchase over a subscription, and you make videos occasionally.
  • ›You want native iOS or Android apps.

Choose Mapflyover if…

  • ›Your videos have a voice: narration and word-timed captions are part of the video, not an editing job afterwards.
  • ›You make geography, history, news or countdown videos where real country and region boundaries — and flag fills — carry the story.
  • ›You publish regularly and want a monthly export allowance instead of counting down a pack.
  • ›You work in vertical video: one project exports as both 16:9 and 9:16.
  • ›You would rather describe the video and let your own AI agent build it, then review and export yourself.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is Mapflyover a route-animation tool?

Yes. List your stops in order, make each stop a scene, and the camera flies from one to the next with a fact card and narration per stop if you want them. Routes are one kind of Mapflyover video, alongside geography, history, news and countdown formats.

Can Mult.dev add narration or captions?

Its published feature list covers routes, photos, styles and music; narration and captions are not listed. In Mapflyover both are built in and free — narration is generated in the app and captions are timed from it automatically.

Which is cheaper for one trip video a month?

On paper, a Mult.dev Pro pack: you pay once and draw it down over up to 3 years. Mapflyover’s Free plan also covers two short exports a month at no cost, so try both free tiers with the same trip before paying either.

Which works better for YouTube Shorts and TikTok?

Mapflyover exports native 9:16 vertical MP4s with word-highlighted captions from the same project as your 16:9 version. Mult.dev’s site does not state its export aspect options.
