Step 1: add your two AI keys
Narration uses Google Gemini and caption timing uses Groq. Both offer free keys, and the keys are stored encrypted and used only for your own videos. Open the dashboard after you sign in and the setup guide shows two boxes, one for each key.
Paste each key and save. The guide marks the step done once both are saved. Until then you cannot start a project, because the AI would have no voice or captions to work with.
Step 2: connect Claude or ChatGPT
In your AI app, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector. Name it Mapflyover and paste the address shown in the setup guide: https://mapflyover.com/api/mcp. The app opens a Mapflyover page where you sign in and tap Allow.
Free Claude and ChatGPT accounts allow only one custom connector. If that slot is already used, remove the other connector first, or use a paid plan in that app. This limit comes from Claude and ChatGPT, not from Mapflyover.
- ›Start a new chat after connecting and switch the Mapflyover connector on.
- ›The setup guide in the dashboard checks for the connection by itself and moves on when it sees it.
- ›If you use Claude Code or Cursor, you can use a personal access token instead. The For agents page has the exact commands.
Step 3: ask for the video you want
Describe the video in one or two sentences: the topic, the length and whether it is vertical or landscape. For example: "Make a 45 second vertical Mapflyover video about the five largest countries in Africa, with narration and captions."
The AI reads the built-in guide, writes the script, records the narration, times the captions, finds the real place outlines and saves the scenes. It then gives you a link. Open it to preview, change anything by hand and export.
If something goes wrong
Most problems are one of these.
- ›The connector will not add: check the address is exactly the one shown, with nothing extra at the end, and that your plan allows custom connectors.
- ›The AI says it needs a key: finish step 1 in Settings, Your AI keys.
- ›The AI cannot export: exporting is always done by you in the editor, and needs a Pro or Studio plan and your own free Mapbox public token.
- ›Still stuck: use the WhatsApp button on any page and message us.
